Minnehaha County commissioners on Nov. 24 authorized a $1,887,800 contract with Krier & Blain, Inc. to replace the county energy plant chiller. Facilities Director Mark Kriens presented the project and terms; the Commission voted 5-0 to authorize the Chair to sign the contract.
The agenda packet lists a project substantial completion date of April 1, 2021. Kriens also reported a maintenance contract included in the contractor’s proposal covering years two through five, with annual maintenance billed at $86,100. The Commission approved both the base contract and the maintenance arrangement.
The project is a capital facilities upgrade intended to replace aging chiller equipment serving the county energy plant; the contract award follows a formal RFP and selection process referenced in the meeting material. The Facilities Department will oversee project execution and the scheduled completion timeline.
