General Registrar Jenni Booth told the Charlotte County Electoral Board on Dec. 11 that voter turnout in the November 2025 election was 55.319%. Booth presented the monthly packet, a budget synopsis, and election statistics for the board’s review.
Booth said a possible referendum could require a special election in April. She warned that holding a special in April would push the June primary back into August. Booth reported the current purchase-service budget for fiscal 2025–2026 will cover the cost of a special election and recommended budgeting for an August primary in 2026–2027.
The board reviewed the November election and referred members to the minutes from the Nov. Canvas meeting. Board members directed enhanced training to address difficulties at the Drakes Branch precinct and asked staff to more closely examine expanding use of ballot-on-demand equipment to reduce similar problems in future elections.
Votes at a glance: The board approved the October minutes and the November Election Canvas meeting minutes on a motion by Mr. Foster, seconded by Mr. Fane, and approved “without objection.” At 4:03 p.m. Mr. Foster moved to adjourn; that motion also passed without objection.
The board recorded that 2026 Veba dues have been paid and scheduled its next meeting for Thursday, Jan. 8, 2026 at 3 p.m., when the board will hold its annual reorganization.
