Pocahontas County’s Board of Supervisors adopted the Solar Energy Systems Ordinance #44 on Feb. 24, 2026, following a short public hearing and successive roll-call votes.
Vice Chair Peter Seehusen opened the hearing at 10:02 a.m., and a summary of the proposed ordinance was read aloud with full copies made available to attendees. Zoning official Russ Jergens told the board that the questions he had received were mostly from town residents and therefore unlikely to be affected by the county ordinance. No public comments were offered during the hearing.
The board voted to close the hearing at 10:04 a.m., approved the ordinance’s third reading, and then voted to adopt Ordinance #44 to take effect after publication. Roll-call votes were recorded for the hearing and readings; the final adoption vote recorded three ayes, one nay and one abstention (see ‘Actions’). The minutes do not record substantive amendments to the ordinance during the hearing.
The ordinance was read and handled as part of the meeting’s recorded proceedings; the board will publish the ordinance and its effective date following standard county publishing procedures.
