Burleson County commissioners approve deeds to enable CR 146 bridge rehabilitation, table plat and end county health-authority contract

Burleson County’s Commissioners Court approved multiple property agreements on June 26 to clear the way for rehabilitation of the bridge on County Road 146 at Birch Creek, tabled a plat request and voted to end a COVID-era county health-authority services agreement.
The court unanimously accepted boundary adjustments (deeds) from Cheryl Cato, the O’Brien Family Living Trust and Craig Allen Shupak that the county said will allow work on the CR 146 bridge. Commissioner Dwayne Faust made the motions on each deed; Commissioner Vincent Svec seconded the motions and all votes were recorded as aye.
Commissioner Faust also moved, and Commissioner Svec seconded, to table action on a simplified plat off Highway 21 West submitted by Michael La Fountain; the court voted unanimously to table that item without further action at this meeting.
Commissioner David Hildebrand moved (seconded by Commissioner Svec) to approve a right-of-way request from Atlas Operating LLC to lay an oil-and-gas line near County Road 373, with the condition that Atlas coordinate directly with Commissioner Hildebrand. The court approved the request unanimously.
On public-health contracting, the court approved Commissioner Faust’s motion (seconded by Commissioner Hildebrand) to non‑renew the county health authority physician services agreement that had been established during the COVID response, citing diminished need and county cost. The motion passed with all members voting aye.
The court also approved routine business: a consent agenda that included an $80 donation to the Burleson Health Resource Center and budget amendments for the County Extension and the Election Services Fund; authorization for payment of county bills; and formal adjournment. All of these items passed on unanimous votes.
In other reports, Sheriff’s Office Chief Garrett Durrenberger reported the jail population as 40 inmates — "37 males and 3 females" — and Environmental Officer Jody Tillery said he currently has 17 septic-system complaints. County Judge Keith Schroeder said County Court is proceeding well, and the auditor reported staff are continuing to work with outside auditors on the county audit.
The court entered an executive session at 9:32 a.m. under Texas Government Code §551.071 to consult with the county attorney and reconvened at 9:52 a.m. No final action from the executive session was recorded in the minutes.
