Adams County EMS director urges start of process for new ambulance amid two-year remount waitlist

Jerry Lager, EMS Director with Adams County Ambulance, told the Board of Supervisors that one ambulance was recently remounted and that the county “would like to start the process for another as there is a two-year waitlist.”
Alicia Reed of Corning CHI provided a related update on local doctors, providers and services and said hospital staff have been filling in to support EMS operations. Lager also reported that paramedics and hospital employees are stepping in to cover when volunteer crews are short and that the county has been handling more hospital-to-hospital transfers.
Board members and staff discussed updating the county's Ambulance Management Services Agreement. Lager and Gwen Larson said they have been researching comparable agreements and will provide the current agreement to the board and staff for comparison; no formal vote was taken on the management agreement at the meeting.
The discussion focused on maintaining response capacity while addressing equipment lead times: Lager identified the remount waitlist as a key operational constraint driving the request to begin procurement. The board did not adopt a procurement plan at the meeting; staff were tasked with returning the agreement and recommendations to the board for future action.
