Butler County holds closed sessions for staff reviews; EMS coordinator discusses vehicle purchase and training

At its Dec. 30 meeting the Butler County Board of Supervisors went into closed session twice under Iowa Code 21.5(1)(i) for performance reviews requested by General Assistance Director Terri Halbach and EMS Coordinator Kari Coates; both closed sessions were followed by returns to open session as recorded by the board.
Halbach provided the board with an update on services her office provides and reviewed her midyear budget before requesting a closed session for a performance review. The board approved the closed session motion and later returned to open session.
Coates likewise asked for a closed-session review of her performance. After the closed session, Coates told the board the EMS budget includes purchasing a new vehicle, discussed timing and the type of vehicle, and announced a Butler County EMS Education Day scheduled for Jan. 24 at the Parkersburg Fire Station.
The board also approved claims during the meeting and acknowledged receipt of a Manure Management Plan Short Form Annual Update for Muth Stock Farms #59020. The board adjourned the meeting to Jan. 2, 2026 at 9:00 a.m.
