The Butler County Board of Supervisors voted unanimously Dec. 30 to award Iowa DOT Contract 12-C012-135 — a twin 10-by-8-by-48-foot reinforced concrete box culvert on Ridge Avenue north of Highway 3 — to Iowa Bridge & Culvert, LC for $284,772.
Board members reviewed an engineer's estimate of $294,137 and four bids before taking the award vote. Bids recorded in the meeting were $284,772 from Iowa Bridge & Culvert, LC (Washington, Iowa); $308,115.40 from Graves Construction Co., Inc. (Spencer, Iowa); $325,048 from K&M Enterprise LLC (Shell Rock, Iowa); and $369,301.40 from K Construction Inc. (Elkader, Iowa).
Greg Barnett moved to award the contract to Iowa Bridge & Culvert; Wayne Dralle seconded the motion. The board recorded "all ayes," and the motion carried.
County officials said the project is listed as BROSC012(135)--8J-12 in the bid documents and replaces or installs twin 10'x8'x48' RCB culverts on Ridge Avenue. The award amount is approximately $9,365 below the county engineer's estimate.
The board's action was recorded as part of the regular meeting; the agenda also included other departmental updates, personnel matters and routine approvals. The board adjourned to reconvene Jan. 2, 2026 at 9:00 a.m.
