Ottawa County commissioners approve claims, appoint fair board member and allocate funds

At their Feb. 3 meeting the Ottawa County Board of Commissioners approved routine claims and fund appropriations, appointed Shirley “Shay” Clapp to the Free Fair Board and approved a snowplow agreement; a county road-use agreement was discussed but no decision was made.
The Ottawa County Board of Commissioners approved a series of routine administrative actions during a Feb. 3 regular meeting, including payment of claims, multiple fund appropriations and an appointment to the county Free Fair Board.
Commissioner Robert Clark moved to approve the minutes from Jan. 20 and the Jan. 27 special meeting; Commissioner Scott Hilton seconded the motion and it carried on a unanimous voice vote by Clark, Hilton and Chairman Mike Furnas. The board then approved a large batch of claims across general, health and highway funds, including a $166,481.72 equipment claim to Signal Communications Inc., among many other vendor payments. The motion to approve claims was moved by Clark, seconded by Hilton and passed unanimously.
The commissioners appointed Shirley “Shay” Clapp to the Ottawa County Free Fair Board (Highway District 2) by unanimous vote after a motion from Commissioner Clark and a second from Commissioner Hilton. The board also approved a snowplow agreement between Service Solutions Inc. and the Ottawa County Health Department.
During the meeting commissioners discussed a county road-use agreement but took no formal action. The board approved allocations of motor vehicle and alcoholic beverage taxes from the county treasurer, accepted monthly reports from the Treasurer, Assessor, County Clerk, Sheriff and Health Department, and approved cash fund estimates of needs and appropriations for numerous accounts.
Notable fund entries included a $250,000 Sheriff’s Funding Assistance grant and a Courthouse Improvement-ST fund balance/appropriation of $75,765.77; several highway sales tax accounts were listed at approximately $49,700–$50,700 each for different subaccounts. The board also approved deposit of several checks, including a State reimbursement of $4,100.84, an AT&T reimbursement of $174.56 and an insurance claim deposit of $400,000 (Check #4116).
The meeting concluded with approval of blanket purchase orders and an adjournment motion that passed unanimously. No public comment is recorded in the meeting minutes.
