Ottawa County commissioners approve $262,155 audio-visual contract, vehicle purchase and budget transfers

MIAMI, Okla. — The Ottawa County Board of Commissioners voted unanimously Monday, Nov. 10, 2025, to award a $262,155.80 contract for audio-visual equipment, approve the purchase of a 2025 Chevrolet Tahoe for $56,532.20 and authorize multiple budget transfers, among other routine business.
The board, chaired by Mike Furnas, approved the award of Bid #2025-2026.10 to Signal Communication for $262,155.80. Commissioner Robert Clark made the motion and Commissioner Scott Hilton seconded; the vote was recorded as Furnas, aye; Clark, aye; Hilton, aye. The meeting record lists the vendor and exact bid amount as presented to the board.
Also during the meeting the board approved a request from the Afton Fire Department to purchase a 2025 Chevrolet Tahoe from John Vance Fleet Services under the Oklahoma State Purchasing bid for $56,532.20. Clark moved and Hilton seconded the vehicle purchase; the motion passed by the same unanimous vote.
The board approved a request from Paul Thomas Funeral Home and Cremation Service to waive the Chief Medical Examiner (CME 19 P) fee of $750 for a 62-year-old Ottawa County indigent resident; the board voted to grant the waiver. Clark moved and Hilton seconded the motion.
At Treasurer Tabitha Reeves’ request, the board designated Sarah Saenz to serve as First Deputy for the Treasurer’s Office and approved requisitioning officers Tabitha Reeves and Sarah Saenz and receiving officers Courtney Davis and Linda Simpson for fiscal year 2025–2026. Both personnel items were approved unanimously.
The commissioners also approved a long claims list covering multiple county funds and vendors (as entered in the meeting record), and authorized several transfers of appropriations, including a $500,000 transfer from fund 1103 to fund 0001 and other intra-fund transfers listed in the motion.
