Ottawa County commissioners approve routine claims, budget moves and easement in unanimous Nov. 4 meeting

The Ottawa County Board of Commissioners met at 1:45 P.M. on Nov. 4, 2025, and voted unanimously on a series of routine financial and administrative measures, including approval of claims, transfers of appropriations and a utility permit. Chairman Mike Furnas and Commissioners Robert Clark and Scott Hilton were present.

Why it matters: The actions approve spending, define procurement timelines and clear property and utility actions that affect county road and utility work across Ottawa County. The decisions put several procurement processes and fund appropriations into motion for the coming months.

At the outset the board approved the minutes of Oct. 20, 2025. Commissioners then approved a long list of claims for county services and vendors, including payments to Total Electronics Contracting, Turn Key Health Clinics LLC and the Miami Special Utility Authority.

The board adopted Resolution No. 2025.49 to authorize restrictions on trucks over a 1-ton rating on S. 592 Road after a motion by Commissioner Robert Clark and a second by Commissioner Scott Hilton; the vote was Furnas, Clark and Hilton—aye. The board also approved an Ottawa County utility permit for Rural Water District No. 7 to install a waterline on E. 50 Road west of U.S. 69, as described in the legal entry on the record.

The commissioners voted to table bid 2025-2026.10 for audiovisual equipment and approved solicitations for six‑month bids for road and bridge materials and related supplies, and 12‑month bids for ballot printing and janitorial services.

Financial actions included approval of case-balance reports from the court clerk for August and September 2025; allocation of motor vehicle tax in the amount of $12,350.69; allocation of alcoholic beverage tax in the amount of $15,409.70; and approval of a broad set of cash fund estimates and appropriation requests across multiple accounts (Transportation Pact Fund, highway sales tax accounts, courthouse improvement fund and others) entered into the record.

The board approved transfers of appropriations, including a $195,300 transfer from account #1506-6-7001-2005 to #1102-6-4300-4200, and approved Check #002695 from the Ottawa County Election Board for $470.52.

An easement in District 1 for property owners Richard Money and Wayne Money (legal description S2 NW & the SW NE, Section 23, Twp. 29, Range 23) was approved by unanimous vote. Commissioners’ activity reports noted concrete work on 75 Road in District 1 and an expressed interest by tribal entities in the BF Goodrich property; Districts 2 and 3 reported routine maintenance.
