Kingston council unanimously approves SRO agreement, zoning appointment, hazard plan and subdivision

The Town of Kingston council on Dec. 1 unanimously approved five resolutions, moving through routine agenda measures with no substantive debate.
Resolution 2025-27: The council approved an agreement with WVW School District to provide a school resource officer for the West Side Career and Technology Center. The motion was made by Nancy Cooper and seconded by Kate McMahon; all seven council members voted Yes.
Resolution 2025-28: The council confirmed the mayor’s appointment of Sharon Hinchey to the Kingston Zoning Hearing Board for a three-year term ending Dec. 31, 2028. Motion by John Chernesky; second by Kate McMahon. Vote: unanimous.
Resolution 2025-29: Council approved the schedule of meetings for Kingston Council, boards and commissions for calendar year 2026. Motion by Nancy Cooper; second by Doug Rush. Vote: unanimous.
Resolution 2025-30: Council adopted the Luzerne County 2025 Hazard Mitigation Plan. Motion by Kate McMahon; second by Nancy Cooper. Vote: unanimous.
Resolution 2025-31: Council approved modifications/waivers and the preliminary/final plan for the Margaret Reilly Minor Subdivision at 48 Eley Street. Motion by Nancy Cooper; second by Kate McMahon. Vote: unanimous.
In other procedural business, Solicitor Harry Mattern noted that Ordinance 2025-2 (budget enactment) and Ordinance 2025-3 (tax rates for 2026) had been given their first readings previously and are scheduled for final votes at a special meeting on Dec. 15; Mattern and council indicated no tax-rate changes for 2026.
The council adjourned at 7:40 p.m.
