Spencer County hires full-time paramedic; court declines immediate payment on KACO grant invoice

EM/EMS Director Chris Limpp asked the court to approve the personnel change; Magistrate Jim Travis made the motion and Magistrate Tim Brewer seconded it. According to meeting minutes, all members present voted to approve the hire, with Magistrates M. Moody and Beaverson recorded as absent.
Limpp also sought authorization to pay QuadMed $5,996 up front for bariatric-lift cushions provided under a Kentucky Association of Counties (KACO) grant that reimburses the county for 80% of the cost. Limpp said the county must pay the invoice and then be reimbursed by KACO. Magistrate J. Moody and Magistrate Brewer said they wanted more information; after discussion Judge John Riley declared the motion failed without a vote.
Limpp reported separately that FEMA has approved a grant for a generator to serve the ambulance garage; he told the court the county's share is roughly 13% and said more details will be brought to a future meeting.
Why it matters: the hire increases EMS staffing capacity for county ambulance coverage.
