Magistrate Jerry Moody moved to approve payment for the toilets and dumpster (motion seconded by Magistrate Tine Brewer). Magistrate Jerry Moody then amended his own motion to increase the maximum county contribution to $1,500; that amendment passed on voice vote. The packet included multiple vendor estimates (Rumpke’s dumpster quote at $682 and portable‑toilet quotes ranging by vendor; one vendor listed a porta‑potty package at $1,474.75). Organizers told the court rising costs could reduce the net proceeds available to local families that the 5K benefits.
The court’s action covers rental costs only; packet materials say the festival remains produced by volunteers and funded largely by vendor fees, sponsorships and donations. The Octoberfest committee asked for county help because the event relies on volunteer labor and community sponsorships to generate its charitable distributions.
