Summary
On Feb. 9 the Pittsburg County Board of County Commissioners approved three surplus/junk declarations, authorized advertising for a used cab tractor for District 3, and approved an amended Cooperative Extension Services Agreement with Oklahoma State University and the U.S. Department of Agriculture for fiscal 2025–26.
The Pittsburg County Board of County Commissioners on Feb. 9 unanimously approved three resolutions declaring certain county items junk or surplus and authorized advertising for a used cab tractor for District 3.
Chairman Ross Selman read Resolution 26-188 declaring a Health Department projector junk and directing removal from inventory, and the board approved Resolution 26-189 (District 3 items) and Resolution 26-190 (Haywood/Arpelar Fire Department item) without objection. "Selman made a motion to remove the item from inventory; seconded by Haynes," the minutes report.
The board then approved Resolution 26-191 to advertise for "one (1) used cab tractor, 100 hp or more, pre-emission with boom mower, lease purchase with financing included" for District 3; the advertisement will be available from the county clerk and bids are due by Feb. 27, 2026, with opening on March 2.
In other business the board unanimously approved the "amended" Cooperative Extension Services Agreement between Oklahoma State University, the U.S. Department of Agriculture and Pittsburg County for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2026. The agreement, as posted in the meeting packet, sets budgeted support and requires the county to provide office space and local financial support while OSU provides extension educators and subject-matter assistance.
Why it matters: Surplus and disposal votes and the tractor advertisement clear the way for District 3 to replace aging equipment; approval of the OSU cooperative-extension contract secures the county's enrollment in the statewide extension program for the current fiscal year.
What’s next: The tractor procurement will proceed via sealed bids per Resolution 26-191; the Cooperative Extension contract will govern county extension services through June 30, 2026.
