The Pittsburg County Tax Roll Correction Board unanimously approved two tax-roll correction petitions for tax year 2025 during a special meeting on Jan. 20, 2026, at the County Commissioners Conference Room in the Pittsburg County Courthouse.
Chairman Ross Selman called the meeting to order at 8:30 a.m.; the agenda and notice were posted Jan. 15, 2026 at 8:27 a.m. Board members Matt McGowan and Cathy Ridenour were present for the session.
The board considered Complaint and Petition #5285 for Kaylee and Mitchell Whorton. According to the record, a property owner reported in December that a structure on the property had burned prior to May 1, 2025. The board approved a correction to the tax roll for that petition after discussion.
The board then addressed Complaint and Petition #5286 for Larry Maxwell. The minutes state that Maxwell died in 2022 and that his son had been paying ("not knowing what it was"); the son has removed equipment from the property. The board approved the tax-roll correction requested in the petition.
Matt McGowan moved to approve the tax roll corrections; Cathy Ridenour seconded. The board recorded unanimous aye votes from Ross Selman, Matt McGowan and Cathy Ridenour; there were no nays.
With no unfinished business, McGowan moved to adjourn and Ridenour seconded; the motion passed unanimously and the meeting was adjourned.
The board did not record further discussion, formal findings, or dollar amounts connected to the corrections in the meeting minutes. The petitions are recorded as #5285 and #5286 for tax year 2025 in the board's minutes.
