The Board of County Commissioners used the Jan. 12 meeting to process several administrative actions: declaring District 2 equipment surplus, canceling unused purchase orders, accepting a donation for cemetery mowing, advertising for equipment, approving a contract for title searches and postponing one personnel/policy item.
Selman read Resolution 26-155 and the board approved declaring District 2 items (motorgrader, backhoe, dozer, two 2017 belly-dump trailers) surplus and authorized sale at public auction. The commissioners also approved resolutions canceling purchase orders for Russellville Fire Department (26-157), District 3 (26-158) and Haileyville VFD (26-160). The board accepted Resolution 26-159, which directs a $500 donation from the Hugh Low Cemetery Fund to the sheriff’s cemetery-mowing donation account.
The board approved Resolution 26-161 to advertise for one 2001-or-newer lowboy trailer, and County Clerk Hope Trammell explained a contract with Buffalo Land Abstract Company to provide property-title searches at $125 per search to support the Treasurer’s June resale process. Trammell said the abstractor does not warranty title; the treasurer’s office will pay invoices after review. Selman moved to approve the contract and the motion passed unanimously.
Personnel and executive-session items were listed on the agenda. The board voted unanimously to go into executive session to discuss Expo Center manager employment and personnel evaluations for two employees; after returning to open session the board postponed action on the Expo Center manager item until Jan. 20.
Why it matters: These routine actions handle county asset disposition, correct accounting (canceling stale POs), accept restricted donations for cemetery maintenance, ensure title-search support for tax resale work and schedule ongoing personnel and policy decisions for follow-up.
What happens next: Staff will process surplus disposal and PO cancellations, the treasurer’s office will work with Buffalo Land Abstract to begin title searches, and the Expo Center manager personnel matter will be revisited at the Jan. 20 meeting.
