Pittsburg County approves roughly $384,300 in REAP subgrants for fire, community and road projects

The REAP subcontracts approved on Jan. 20 and their amounts are: K1040-26 — Crowder Community Center entryway renovation, $14,750; K1041-26 — Haywood-Arpelar Volunteer Fire Department chainsaws, magnum blowers, light towers and lithium batteries, $8,080; K1042-26 — Arrowhead Estates Volunteer Fire Department exterior repairs, new appliances and generator, $30,922.14; K1043-26 — Pittsburg County Emergency Management storm siren including pole and solar, $29,452; K1044-26 — Pittsburg County Conservation District 2024-or-newer John Deere tractor with fixed pallet fork and utility loader, $50,750; K1045-26 — Pittsburg County Conservation District flatbed trailer, $8,320; and K1046-26 — Pittsburg County Highway District #3 Brewer Road rehabilitation project, $242,011.58. The package of approvals totals approximately $384,285.72 in REAP funding.
Why it mattered: The projects are a mix of public-safety and small‑capital investments intended to put state REAP funds into local infrastructure and emergency-response capacity. The largest single award, $242,011.58, is for rehabilitation of Brewer Road and a short stretch of N. Hickory Street near McAlester (Sections 25 and 30, T6N R14/15E). Several measures included routine administrative certifications: the board approved Ross Selman and Sandra Crenshaw as requisitioning officers and Leslie Gray and Brittany Sanders as receiving officers where required by the subcontracts.
