Pittsburg County commission appoints Selman chair, approves routine fiscal actions and tables two bids

At its Jan. 5, 2026 meeting, the Pittsburg County Board of County Commissioners appointed Ross Selman chair and Mike Haynes vice-chair for 2026, approved several routine resolutions and blanket purchase orders, authorized a $1,350 payment to outside counsel, and accepted two bids for later review.
The Pittsburg County Board of County Commissioners met Jan. 5, 2026 and unanimously appointed Ross Selman as chairman and Mike Haynes as vice-chairman for calendar year 2026, the board said. The motion to appoint Selman was made by Chairman Charlie Rogers and seconded by Mike Haynes; all three commissioners voted aye.
The board approved a set of routine fiscal items, voting to authorize claims and purchase orders for payment after review, approve transfers and monthly officer reports, and adopt a lengthy set of blanket purchase orders covering departments including the animal shelter, district road shops, the Expo Center and the jail. The purchase-order register produced by the county clerk lists individual line items and vendor charges and shows a grand total of $136,342.46 for the items printed at the meeting.
The commissioners approved multiple resolutions by unanimous vote. Resolution 26-149 authorized depositing a payment of $83.16 from Romarie Morrow into the District 1 Highway Sales Tax M&O account. Resolutions 26-150, 26-151 and 26-152 canceled specified purchase orders at the Expo Center, the Asphalt Plant and the Sam's Point Volunteer Fire Department, respectively. The board accepted Resolution 26-153, a $50 donation to the Animal Shelter, and adopted Resolution 26-154 to advertise for bids for one new wildland bed to be built and installed on a 2025 Ford F-550 for the Arrowhead Volunteer Fire Department.
The commissioners approved a payment of $1,350 to the law firm Tisdal & O'Hara for professional services related to litigation involving Cottage Park and Infoura, LLC; the motion to approve payment was approved unanimously. The county record shows invoices and account statements from Tisdal & O'Hara related to those matters.
Bids opened at 10:00 a.m. included Bid No. 8, a new or used pumper apparatus. Brindlee Mountain Fire Apparatus submitted a bid of $417,790 with a trade-in allowance of $225,000; the board accepted the bid as opened and tabled it for review. Bid No. 9, a parcel of real property (Lot 2 and the E1/2 of Lot 3, Block 4, Canadian), received a $15,000 bid from Tommy Bruton; that bid likewise was accepted and tabled for review. A third item, Bid No. 10 for a used chip spreader, was re-advertised and not opened.
The board voted to enter executive session under Oklahoma Statutes, Title 25 § 307.B.1 to conduct three personnel performance evaluations. During the executive-session items the commission approved a motion to postpone those personnel-evaluation agenda items until Jan. 12, 2026.
Sandra Crenshaw, the board's chief deputy, asked commissioners to provide safety-award resolution materials by Jan. 15. The meeting adjourned after commissioners signed approved claims.
The board will review the opened bids and the postponed personnel-evaluation items at future meetings; no final procurement award or personnel action was taken on Jan. 5.
