Arrowhead Fire chief says delivered brush truck fails bid specs; commissioners postpone action pending DA review

Arrowhead Fire Chief Darren Bartlett told the Pittsburg County Board of County Commissioners on Dec. 8 that the brush truck Banner Fire Equipment Inc. is building for Arrowhead Estates does not conform to the bid specifications. Bartlett said the cab and bed do not match the original specification and that equipment in the current bed will not fit as bid.
Bartlett urged the board to rescind the bid award and start over. Commissioners said they would seek an opinion from the district attorney before taking further action. The board voted to postpone the item until Dec. 15.
Commissioner Ross Selman asked the county district attorney be consulted. Chairman Charlie Rogers said he preferred to have the DA's legal review before the board directed staff to rescind or re-bid the procurement.
No formal rescission occurred at the Dec. 8 meeting; the item was postponed pending a DA opinion and further documentation from the fire chief and vendor.
