Commissioners postpone Windsor Woods road-closure after residents flag legal description

The Pittsburg County Board of County Commissioners on Dec. 8 rescinded an earlier vote to accept a petition to close a 183-foot, platted road in the Windsor Woods Estates subdivision after nearby residents told the board the legal description on the petition was incorrect. The board postponed action until Dec. 15 so the description can be corrected.
Chairman Charlie Rogers initially said the undeveloped, platted road would be closed so the property owners could site a community center there. Rogers moved to accept the petition and Vice-Chairman Ross Selman seconded the motion. Residents attending the meeting said the written legal description did not match the property.
After those objections, Rogers moved to rescind his prior motion and the board voted to postpone the petition and the associated public hearing notice (26-003) until Dec. 15 to allow staff and petitioners to fix the legal description. The postponement was approved unanimously. The board's minutes record that citizens from Windsor Woods raised the discrepancy during the public comment portion of the agenda.
The board did not take further action on the road closure at the Dec. 8 meeting; the item will return to the agenda with a corrected legal description or additional documentation.
