Snowflake Council approves FY2021 audit, adopts 2022 General Plan and tax ordinance

On Feb. 1, 2022 the Snowflake Town Council unanimously approved the FY2021 financial audit, adopted the 2022 General Plan (Resolution 2022-01), and approved Ordinance 2022-01 (sales tax rate change and addition of a use tax) on second reading.
The Snowflake Town Council voted unanimously on Feb. 1 to accept the town's FY2021 financial audit, adopt the 2022 General Plan and approve a second reading of Ordinance 2022-01 changing the sales tax rate and adding a use tax.
McKay Hall of Hinton Burdick presented the FY2021 audit and the council moved to approve the report as presented; the motion carried unanimously. The council then considered the town's 2022 General Plan. Town staff member Joe Jarvis noted map amendments that needed to be made; the council voted to amend the land use map and approved Resolution 2022-01 adopting the General Plan.
Council also held a second reading of Ordinance 2022-01, read aloud by Cory Johnson, to change the sales tax rate and add a use tax; the second reading and approval were recorded as unanimous. Earlier in the meeting the council approved its consent agenda — including the January check register, council minutes from Jan. 4, 2022, and the formal Call of Election 2022 — by unanimous vote.
The actions close several routine and policy items for the town ahead of the new planning cycle and tax changes taking effect under the ordinance; staff will implement the amended land use map and the clerk's office will process the adopted resolution and ordinance as required by town procedures.
