Sevier County Beer Board approves on-premise permit for Local Eatery & Grill and flags spending rules for beer-board funds

The Sevier County Beer Board unanimously approved an on-premise alcohol permit Oct. 14 for Akey LLC d/b/a Local Eatery & Grill, a restaurant proposed for 2453 Boyds Creek Highway, Unit 103, in Sevierville.
Chairman Greg Haggard opened the meeting at 4:01 p.m. and the board recorded five members present and two absences. During consideration of the permit, applicant Shannon Akey appeared to answer questions. The board was told the premises are held under a 30-year lease from the property owner. Board member Dale Hill moved to accept consideration of the permit as presented; Scott Catlett seconded the motion, which passed unanimously.
The approval follows the board’s routine acceptance of minutes from its previous meeting. Member Greg Houk moved to accept the prior minutes; Scott Catlett seconded and the motion carried without opposition.
Board members also discussed the beer-board’s accumulated funds and how they may be used. The board clarified that any expenditure of beer-board funds must be taken before the county commission for formal approval prior to spending. That procedural limitation was noted during the meeting but no specific spending plan or dollar amount was proposed or approved.
The meeting concluded after a motion to adjourn by Dale Hill, seconded by Chad Ogle, which carried.
