Sevier County Water Committee elects Hurst as chairman, hears ARPA project updates

Sevier County Water Committee members elected Commissioner Warren Hurst chairman and Director Andrew Temple secretary during a brief meeting Nov. 7, 2024, and then received updates on American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) and other local water infrastructure projects.
Mayor Larry Waters called the meeting to order at 3:01 p.m. Commissioner Todd Humble nominated Warren Hurst for chairman; Commissioner Mike Chambers seconded and the motion passed unanimously. Humble then nominated Andrew Temple for secretary; Chambers seconded and that motion passed unanimously.
Director Brent Shults and Robert Campbell briefed the committee on the status of several projects funded through ARPA and other county programs, citing work in the Oma Lee, Deer Meadows, Nuns Cove, Dupont and Millican Grove areas. Robert Campbell reported that plans for the Rogers Road project are currently with TDEC (Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation) and are awaiting approval; staff hope the review will be completed in the next few weeks.
The updates provided project names and permitting status but did not include new budget amounts or construction schedules. Committee members did not vote on any of the project items during the Water Committee meeting.
The committee adjourned at 3:26 p.m.
