Colfax County board approves $1,600 for The Ratonian digital banner to promote tourism

Connie Martinez, identified in the minutes as The Ratonian’s advertising director, presented a promotional application requesting the $1,600 payment to run a digital banner beginning Oct. 1, 2024. Martinez said the campaign — budgeted at $40 per week over 40 weeks — is intended to drive online users to Colfax County pages advertising fall and winter 2024 and spring 2025 activities including hunting, alpine and cross‑country skiing, ice fishing and hiking. The board recorded that the county logo will be provided to The Ratonian and that clicks on the logo will send users to the Wild Divide website for Colfax County; Michael Muniz was recorded as responsible for providing the logo and link.
Laurie Bunker moved to approve the promotional application, Angel Cambell seconded, and the board voted in favor. The minutes record the vote as "all in favor." The board did not record any opposed votes or abstentions.
The board’s action is procedural spending from the Lodgers Tax fund for marketing. Patricia Duran of CCI and website developer Soriah Martinez, who were present for other agenda items, were noted by the minutes as participating in related promotion and web work. The Wild Divide team told the board they expect to begin posting "Coming Soon" content in October and will seek additional funding at a future meeting.
The board set its next meeting for Oct. 21, 2024 at 9:00 a.m. and adjourned at 9:52 a.m.
