Franklin County committee adds 10 inclement-weather days to employee handbook, revises sick-leave language

The committee also approved a revision to sick-leave wording. The update changes the handbook heading from "Sick Leave will be Granted for the Following Reasons" to "Sick Leave Shall Be Granted for The Following Reasons" and specifies that doctor, dental and optical appointments that cannot be scheduled during off time require reasonable notice of five days. The policy allows department heads to approve emergency exceptions. Commissioner Tyler Bauer moved to adopt the sick-leave revision; Commissioner Glenn Summers seconded. The motion carried with four ayes and one abstention; the transcript does not identify which member abstained.
Commissioner Dale Schultz moved to approve the April 4, 2024 minutes; Commissioner Glenn Summers seconded and the minutes were approved by unanimous vote. Schultz later moved to approve 12 notary applications; Bauer seconded and the committee approved them unanimously. Chairman Eldridge opened the floor for public comment; no one spoke. Commissioner Bauer moved to adjourn at 5:40 p.m.; Commissioner Grant Benere seconded and the meeting adjourned by unanimous vote.
