Commission approves tire recycling contract and raises scrap-rubber disposal rates

Dickson County commissioners voted Sept. 19 to approve a three-year contract with Liberty Tire Recycling and to raise tire and scrap-rubber disposal rates.
Commissioner Stacey Batey moved approval of Resolution 09-2022-03 to contract with Liberty Tire Recycling for used-tire recycling and transportation; Commissioner Dwight McIllwain seconded and the motion passed by a unanimous aye voice vote. The contract price is $116.89 per ton for recycling services plus a $0.34 per-mile fuel surcharge and a $15.00 environmental fee per load, with two optional one-year extension terms.
Separately, the commission passed Resolution 09-2022-04 to increase tire and scrap-rubber disposal rates. The general new rate is $130.86 per ton. The resolution sets a reduced rate of $59.34 per ton for new tire dealers who have paid Tennessee’s pre-disposal fee. Commissioner Randy Simpkins moved the rate change and Commissioner Jody Britt seconded; the motion passed unanimously.
County officials recorded the approvals as standard procurement and fee-schedule actions; no roll-call vote was recorded in the minutes and no dissenters were noted.
