Dickson County Commission approves ARPA-funded market project, equipment purchases and multiple agreements

The Dickson County Commission on Aug. 15 voted to approve several resolutions authorizing contracts, purchases and programing changes, many funded in whole or part with American Rescue Plan Act dollars.
The most contested item was approval of construction manager-at-risk services for a planned Farmers' Market facility. Commissioner Randy Simpkins moved to expand T.W. Frierson’s contract to provide those services with $500,000 from ARPA in a joint operation with the city; Commissioner Linda Hayes seconded the motion. The measure passed 10–1, with Commissioner James C. Dawson recorded as the sole No vote.
The commission also authorized purchasing a 2021 Freightliner M2-106 crew-cab pumper/tanker equipped with a 1,500-gpm Hale pump and a 2,000-gallon water tank for $375,000 and amended the county…
