Dickson County Commission approves school budget amendments, road dedications and an appointment

The Dickson County Commission met May 16, 2022, in the Buford L. (Booty) Reed Jr. County Commission Chamber and approved a set of resolutions that included school fund budget amendments, county budget adjustments and additions to the county road map. Commissioners also confirmed an appointment to the Planning Commission and approved a slate of notaries. The meeting adjourned at 7:20 P.M.

Commissioner Jeff Eby moved to authorize Resolution 05-2022-01, which allows certain amendments to the county’s General Purpose School Fund (Fund 141), Federal Projects Fund (Fund 142) and Central Cafeteria Fund (Fund 143); Commissioner Johnnie Reed seconded. The resolution passed by a unanimous aye voice vote.

Commissioner Linda Hayes moved to approve Resolution 05-2022-02, authorizing certain amendments to all county funds except those established for schools. Commissioner Jeff Eby seconded; the motion passed by a unanimous aye voice vote.

The commission approved Resolution 05-2022-03, authorizing the county to request unclaimed balances of accounts remitted to the Tennessee State Treasurer under the Unclaimed Property Act. Commissioner Becky Spicer moved and Commissioner Dwight McIllwain seconded; the resolution passed by unanimous aye voice vote.

The board accepted a land dedication under Resolution 05-2022-04 to expand the cul-de-sac on Dewey Drive in the Westbrook Subdivision, Section B. Commissioner Mike Petty moved and Commissioner Danny Williams seconded; the motion passed by unanimous voice vote.

Under Resolution 05-2022-05 the commission accepted dedication of private roads in Phases 1 and 2 of Brittney Hills Subdivision to be added to the county road map and maintained as county roads. The resolution lists Jacob’s Way (0.26 miles), Amelia Drive (0.28 miles) and Yates Drive (0.06 miles). Commissioner Becky Spicer moved and Commissioner Stacey Batey seconded; the resolution passed by a unanimous aye voice vote.

On appointments, Commissioner Mike Petty moved and Commissioner Jeff Eby seconded to appoint Mr. Jeff Chase to the Planning Commission; the appointment passed by a unanimous aye voice vote.

Commissioner Clayton Ellis moved, with Commissioner Linda Hayes seconding, to approve a slate of notaries submitted for approval; the motion passed by a unanimous aye voice vote. The approved names were submitted in the minutes.

Officials moved discussion of a proposed camera system for the county jail to the July meeting; no action was taken at the May session. The commission announced upcoming budget committee meetings, a public hearing on June 6, and the next regular session on June 20.
