During committee reports the council heard departmental updates on ongoing infrastructure and public-safety projects.
Superintendent Huey told the council that the Sanitary Sewer Department has started construction on the degritter and completed numerous projects in 2025, and that the department looks forward to continued progress in 2026. PWD Lehr said the Public Works and Highway departments are evaluating new methods to complete tasks more efficiently.
Chief Glenny reported that the Crimewatch platform has been successful for the Mechanicsburg Police Department and that the SRO/DRO program has conducted two interviews for SRO positions. LEMC Taylor said he attended the county coordinators meeting on Nov. 17 and has begun Jubilee Day planning; he will request assistance from Cumberland County Department of Public Safety and Cumberland County Fire Police for the event. Fire Administrator Taylor said he is working on transitioning utility payments to the Borough and coordinating meetings with the Borough Treasurer.
MVFD Chief Trace announced that Santa Claus will travel through the borough at noon on Saturday, Dec. 20, and that the MVFD will accept donations of nonperishable food for New Hope Ministries. Chief Trace also reported that the new Mechanicsburg fire station project has begun placing block at the construction site and that the department has received the Highway Occupancy Permit from PennDOT.
Center Square Development was reported as anticipated to be fully functional in Spring 2026; the Quarry Project is under construction with completed plantings; Railroad Avenue work is in progress to install water and electrical services for vendors, and these projects are funded through grants, according to the minutes.
