Bland County supervisors adopt revised FY24 budget calendar, hear budget and contract update

Bland County supervisors unanimously adopted a revised fiscal year 2024 budget calendar and heard an update on the Commonwealth budget and the county’s trash contract at a continued meeting on April 19, 2023.
At 4:00 p.m. Chairman Adam Kidd called the continued FY24 budget work session to order at the Bland County Courthouse in Bland. Present were supervisors Randy Johnson, Stephen Kelley, Keith Costello and Adam Kidd; county staff included Assistant County Administrator Cameron Burton, Finance Director Teresa Tolbert and Board Secretary Linda Miller.
Early in the meeting Supervisor Keith Costello moved to approve the April 19 agenda with an amendment to add an informational item about vehicle allocation; Supervisor Stephen Kelley seconded and the motion passed unanimously.
Assistant County Administrator Cameron Burton then briefed the board on three matters: the current status of the Commonwealth budget, issues related to the county’s trash contract, and proposed revisions to the FY24 budget calendar. Burton presented the updates to inform the board’s schedule for budget deliberations and any adjustments needed if state funding outcomes change.
Following the presentation Supervisor Stephen Kelley moved to adopt the revised FY24 budget calendar; Supervisor Randy Johnson seconded. The board voted unanimously to adopt the calendar.
Supervisor Randy Johnson later moved to adjourn the session; Supervisor Stephen Kelley seconded and the motion passed. The board scheduled its next regular meeting for April 25, 2023, at 5:00 p.m. at the Bland County Courthouse.
No ordinances, resolutions, or budget appropriations were adopted at this work session; the meeting focused on calendar scheduling and informational updates.
