Bland County supervisors adopt $35.7 million FY24 budget and make two appointments

The Bland County Board of Supervisors unanimously adopted the FY24 county and school budget of $35,712,423 during a continued meeting June 14 at the Bland County Courthouse. Supervisor Stephen Kelley moved to adopt the budget and Supervisor Randy Johnson seconded; a roll-call vote recorded Kelley, Johnson, Costello and Chairman Adam Kidd voting "yea." The budget includes a School Board allocation of $10,858,207, of which $2,900,000 is local funding.
The board also approved two appointments. Supervisor Keith Costello moved, and Supervisor Stephen Kelley seconded, to appoint Adam Kidd to the Mount Rogers Planning District Commission and to appoint Jill Baker to the Bland County Public Library Board of Trustees; the appointments were approved unanimously. A motion to approve the meeting agenda earlier in the session, made by Stephen Kelley and seconded by Randy Johnson, passed without dissent.
Supervisor Randy Johnson moved to adjourn the continued meeting; Supervisor Keith Costello seconded and the motion passed unanimously. The board scheduled its next meeting for Tuesday, June 27, 2023, at 5:00 p.m. in the Bland County Courthouse.
