Tazewell County CPMT approves February reports, schedules trainings and holds closed session on foster care cases

The Tazewell County Community Policy and Management Team met on March 22, 2021, in the training room at the Tazewell County Department of Social Services. Edwinna Crawford, chairperson, called the meeting to order at 10:02 a.m.
The team unanimously approved minutes from the Feb. 1, 2021, meeting after a motion by Jeff Brintle and a second from Lori Gates-Addison. Members then unanimously approved the February financial report on a motion by Jeff Brintle, seconded by Robin Boyd. The CPMT also approved encumbered WRAP funds (motion by Lori Gates-Addison; seconded by Robin Boyd) and the February Safe & Stable funds (motion by Robin Boyd; seconded by Jeff Brintle). The minutes record each motion as passing unanimously.
Under new business, the CPMT reviewed the April 2021 Office of Children’s Services training calendar. Lori Gates-Addison told the team that Narcan and Ace First Aid trainings are being offered and asked members to share the information and contact her to schedule sessions.
A motion was made and seconded for the CPMT to enter a closed session to discuss cases involving foster care, Child Protective Services, Cumberland, Court Services, Tazewell County Schools and funding for services for those cases. The minutes state the motion was carried unanimously. After the closed session, the CPMT adopted a certification stating the closed meeting complied with the Virginia Freedom of Information Act and cited Code of Virginia §§2.2-3711 and 2.2-3712. The minutes record the certification vote as AYES 5, NAYS 0 and list ABSENT 6; the attendance list earlier in the minutes names five members in attendance, a discrepancy reflected in the record.
