Board tables transfer of Dogwood Lane solar project to Dimension Renewable Energy pending committee review

Representatives from Apex Clean Energy told the Board on Dec. 8 that Apex has identified a buyer for the Dogwood Lane Solar Project and that Dimension Renewable Energy would assume obligations under the previously approved Siting Agreement and conditional use permit for the project. Matthew Gooch of Apex introduced Bo McGee of Dimension, who described his company and asked the Board to approve the sale and transfer.

Supervisor Robert Zava, a Solar Committee member, said Dimension had not been part of earlier permitting discussions and that he was not prepared to vote on the transfer without more information. County Attorney Frank Rennie and other supervisors asked for a review of Dimension's financial documents and more time for the Solar Committee to meet with the buyer. Gooch said Dimension's offer could be withdrawn if the sale did not close within the fourth quarter of 2022.

After discussion, Supervisor Mike Hankins moved and the Board unanimously approved tabling a decision on the intent to transfer the project until after the Solar Committee meets with representatives of Dimension and issues a recommendation to the Board. The board explicitly asked the Solar Committee to review financial assurances and meet with neighboring property owners as recommended by Supervisor Hankins before bringing the matter back for a vote.
