Commissioner of the Revenue to remove long-misassessed parcel from tax rolls after records review

Commissioner of the Revenue Liz Hamlett told the Board she had received notice from attorney James W. Elliott about Parcel Record number 4922, a 10-acre parcel assessed to Willie Bagley. In reviewing the county land and court records and a recorded 1998 survey by J. Richard Dunn, she said she and the surveyor found no record of transfer to Mr. Bagley. Citing the Code of Virginia, Hamlett said that "if the commissioner of the revenue'is satisfied that he has erroneously assessed such applicant with any such tax, he shall correct such assessment." She told the Board she would remove the property from county tax records and abate the delinquent taxes.
