At its Aug. 10 meeting the Lunenburg County Board of Supervisors approved several administrative and financial measures, including grant carryovers, a bank sweep account and an appointment to the Workforce Investment Board.
Planning & Economic Development staff requested carryover of $8,782.21 in remaining DEQ grant funds and $11,302.58 in VTC ARPA funds from FY2023 to FY2024; Supervisor Edward Pennington moved to approve the carryovers and the motion passed unanimously. Administrator Tracy M. Gee said she is still working with the Treasurer’s Office on final figures for carryover funds.
The Board also authorized County Administrator Gee and the Treasurer’s Office to set up an ICS sweep account with Benchmark Community Bank to invest amounts exceeding $50,000 overnight; Gee said the county currently budgets $40,000 in annual interest and that the sweep account could potentially increase earnings substantially. The Board approved moving forward with the sweep account.
Administrator Gee said Mrs. Karen McGrath had been nominated as a business member of the Workforce Investment Board for a two-year term; Supervisor Frank Bacon moved to appoint McGrath through June 30, 2025 and the motion carried unanimously. The Board also approved presenting resolutions recognizing the Central High School Track Team and Softball Team for season accomplishments.
Minutes record the amounts and approvals but do not list subsequent administrative steps, interest-rate assumptions for the sweep account, or additional conditions attached to the appointments.
