Lunenburg County supervisors on Aug. 10 approved a $57,593.50 change order for the Project LUIS radio communications system to engage a different tower crew after prior crews had to disengage while tower agreements were finalized.
County Administrator Tracy M. Gee told the Board the change order covered labor costs to complete master-wave installation tests before fall foliage and that, because the expense is for labor rather than infrastructure, ARPA funds cannot be used. Gee added that the county had recently received $500,000 in new solar facilities funds and that those funds would be used to cover the overrun.
Supervisor Frank Bacon moved to approve the change order and Supervisor Edward Pennington seconded; the motion passed unanimously per the meeting minutes. The minutes record the change-order amount and the funding decision but do not provide vendor contract language or a project timeline for the remaining work.
The Board did not amend the county’s previously adopted capital budget during the meeting; any further budget adjustments or reporting requirements were not specified in the minutes.
