The Lunenburg County Board of Supervisors on Sept. 14 approved several fiscal and capital actions intended to use local and designated funds rather than the general fund.
The board unanimously approved a $49,433.20 change order from New Field Inc. to repave the airport parking lot (painting and 13 parking bumpers included). Administrator Tracy M. Gee recommended using revenue from solar siting agreements to cover the work.
The board also accepted a $50,000 down payment and agreed to place the full $500,000 sale proceeds for the animal shelter property in Fund 225 (Economic Development); the board authorized using those proceeds to purchase a 2023 Chevrolet 1500 extended-cab pickup for the Building Official at a state-contract price of $41,522 and to repurpose the existing Building Official vehicle to the Landfill Liaison.
Other financial decisions included increasing the county credit card limit from $5,000 to $10,000 through Benchmark Community Bank and accepting a $54,558 grant from the Library of Virginia (Circuit Court Records Preservation Program) payable to vendor Kofile for deed-book preservation. The board voted unanimously on each item.
The minutes show the board also approved purchasing conduit materials for the airport electrical update at an estimated $1,000 and authorized using Meridian Waste funds for lodging related to radio-system training for Project LUIS.
