Harrison County Council approves multiple appropriations, riverboat distributions and budget transfers totaling hundreds of thousands

Councilman Joe Kellum moved to approve an additional appropriation of $260,000 for contractual services from the Cumulative Bridge Fund; Councilman Jake Blackman seconded and the motion carried 6 ayes, 0 nays. Council then approved an additional appropriation of $193,879 for contractual services from the same fund; Councilwoman Sherry Brown seconded and the motion carried 6-0. Those two approvals produce a combined newly appropriated amount of $453,879 from the Cumulative Bridge Fund as recorded in the meeting minutes.
The council also approved an additional appropriation of $188,500 for contractual services in the Motor Vehicle Highway Fund (motion by Richard Gerdon, seconded by Joe Kellum), which carried 6-0.
On riverboat-related disbursements, Councilman Jake Blackman moved (seconded by Joe Kellum) to approve county share distributions totaling $8,221.72 to multiple towns. The council also approved disbursements from County Riverboat Ordinance 98-12 fund totaling $211,415.64 among neighboring counties and towns; those motions carried 6-0.
The council approved two transfers pursuant to Public Law 54: a $1,815 transfer from tower rental to contractual services in the EMA budget (county general fund) and a $4,000 transfer from part-time employees to longevity in the Motor Vehicle Highway Fund. Both transfers were approved 6-0. The council additionally approved the April 28 and May 27 meeting minutes and tabled the May 12 minutes.
A large highway appropriation request from Highway Superintendent Glen Bube for $930,241.74 (to replace trucks with several purchase and outfitting options) was presented during the meeting; the minutes record the presentation and options but do not record a council vote on that specific request at this meeting.
