Benzie County commissioners voted unanimously Oct. 8 to approve an Emergency Communications Tower Site Lease Agreement with the City of Frankfort.
The agreement provides for an initial three-year lease and automatic annual extensions that would continue until the year 2072, subject to approval of the agreement’s final form by legal counsel. The board also authorized the chair to sign the lease once counsel approves the document.
Mayor JoAnn Holwerda represented the City of Frankfort at the meeting. The board approved the motion (mover: Commissioner Cunningham; seconder: Commissioner Markey) by recorded roll-call vote of those present (Ayes: Cunningham, Jeannot, Markey, Roelofs, Sauer, Warsecke; Nays: None; Excused: Nye).
The lease is intended to secure a site for emergency communications infrastructure; the final lease form will be reviewed by county legal staff before execution.
