Residents urge more affordable housing and ask for transparency on school sale proceeds

Annie Browning of the Village of Beulah said her lease is ending and she will move to Frankfort; she urged county leaders to address a need for more affordable housing. "We need more affordable housing," Browning said.
Brian Childs of Homestead Township, a long-time member and seven-year president of the Benzie Central Schools board, addressed concerns he has received about the sale of Crystal Lake School and how proceeds will be used. Childs said the district has no firm plans until funds are in hand. "Until the money is in their account, we cannot say what we are going to do with the money," he said, and he invited commissioners to attend a school-board meeting and a tour of district facilities.
Public comment closed at 12:16 p.m., and the meeting adjourned.
