Benzie County OKs agreements with Michigan State Police to integrate CAD and host a detachment post

Commissioners unanimously authorized two memoranda of agreement with the Michigan Department of State Police at the Jan. 14 Benzie County meeting.
The first agreement approves integration of computer-aided dispatch (CAD) systems intended to improve communications during emergency events; the motion authorizes the county’s 911 director to sign once legal counsel approves the agreement. Cory Ellis, the 911 director, was present to answer questions.
The second agreement establishes a resident State Police detachment post at the county facility and allows State Police use of the onsite employee fitness center. Undersheriff Hubers was available during the discussion to answer questions. The fitness-center arrangement requires signed liability waivers, and the agreements are subject to review and approval by legal counsel before signing by the Chair and Sheriff.
Both motions passed by unanimous roll-call votes.
Next steps: county staff will complete legal review and return finalized MOAs for signature and implementation.
