- Canton Lions Club July 4 carnival: The board conditionally approved a Special Event Application for a July 4 carnival on the gravel lot across from Sorrells Street Park. The approval requires the Lions to avoid interfering with the Town's July 4th +1 fireworks (including powering down rides and lights during the fireworks) and to report to Assistant Manager Lisa Stinnett; Alderman Hamlett moved the approval and Alderwoman Mull seconded.
- Water & Sewer Capital Improvement Project: The board approved a budget to increase the town's water filtration capacity after Manager Scheuer presented the proposal; Alderwoman Mull moved to approve and Alderwoman Proctor seconded.
- Chestnut Mountain bridge replacement: The council accepted McGill Associates' bid recommendation identifying Cinderella Partners, Inc. as the low bidder for the Chestnut Mountain bridge replacement. Manager Scheuer said FEMA unmet‑needs funding will cover the project; Alderman Hamlett moved to approve the bid award and Alderwoman Mull seconded.
- Budget amendment for stormwater culvert repair: Manager Scheuer presented a budget amendment to repair a stormwater culvert; Alderwoman Mull moved to approve and Alderman Shepard seconded; the motion passed.
The board also voted to enter closed session under N.C.G.S. 143-318.11(a)(4) for economic development and later discussed personnel under N.C.G.S. 143-318.11(a)(6). The meeting returned to open session at 9:49 p.m. and adjourned at 9:50 p.m.
