CANTON, N.C. — During public comment at the Town of Canton’s June 28 special meeting, community members Terryll Evans and Robin Black presented plans for a 3x5 memorial rock to honor past Pactiv employees.
Evans and Black said The Rockman donated the stone, JM Landscaping will donate landscaping and the Cruso Endowment will cover remaining costs. They told the board that the rock is planned for placement between the USPS building and Robin Black’s building and that installation is targeted to occur before Labor Day.
The board heard the presentation during the public‑comment portion of the meeting and did not take a formal vote on the installation; public commenters said the installation would be completed before Labor Day and identified donors and landscaping support.
