Commissioners discuss fairgrounds upgrades, approve donation of recycling trailer to Healy group

Public Works Director Mike Martindale presented three bids for keypad door locks for the Fairgrounds restrooms and updated commissioners on restroom rental fees; commissioners discussed negotiating a contract with Jacob and proposed a rental fee of $250 per month. Martindale also reported that cardboard at the Recycling Center had been baled and would be weighed and asked about the status of recycling trailers in Healy.
After the recess, the board moved to donate the green recycling trailer and all additional containers to the Healy Enhancement Foundation; the motion by Kelle Bosley and second by Logan Campbell carried. Commissioners also discussed longer-term opportunities for energy-efficiency upgrades at the Fairgrounds; Logan Campbell reported Lane‑Scott is reviewing options and the board discussed convening local boards and community organizations for a roundtable on growth and sustainability.
Other routine items handled at the meeting included approval of township annual reports, continuation of a $50 monthly cell-phone reimbursement for an employee to be paid from the Courthouse budget, and approval of minutes, claims and Adds & Abatements.
