Dubois County Council closes 2025 budget public hearings with no public comment

The hearing on the proposed 2025 County budget was for a total of $36,633,324. After President Kluesner opened the hearing, Ryan Craig moved to close it, Meredith I. Voegerl seconded, and the Council voted unanimously to close the hearing.
The Council then opened and closed hearings on other 2025 budgets with no public comment: the Solid Waste Management District budget totaling $389,762 (motion by Ryan Craig, seconded by Meredith I. Voegerl); the Northeast Dubois County School Corporation budget totaling $13,370,491 (motion by Meredith I. Voegerl, seconded by Alex P. Hohl); the Northeast Dubois Fire Protection District budget totaling $135,300 (motion by Deena J. Lewis, seconded by Ryan Craig); and the Airport Authority budget totaling $7,045,025 (motion by Sonya Haas, seconded by Meredith I. Voegerl). All motions to close the hearings passed unanimously.
The Council noted that the public hearings were the advertised opportunities for public input; none was offered during the meeting. The next procedural step is the 2025 Budget Adoptions, scheduled for October 28, 2024, at 4:30 p.m., at which final action on the proposed budgets is expected.
The meeting took place in the Commissioners/Council Chambers of the Courthouse Annex and adjourned at 6:29 p.m.
