Highway engineer seeks $91,000 Cum Bridge appropriation as crews complete bridge work

Dubois County Highway Engineer Brent Wendholt told the commissioners he will request an additional $91,000 in the Cum Bridge Fund to cover planned work on several bridge approaches and thin-deck overlays.
Wendholt detailed the requested $91,000 as $21,000 for an asphalt overlay on Bridge #30 approaches on 300 North; $50,000 for polymeric thin-deck overlays on Bridges #77 (CR 600 West), #92 (CR 500 South), #274 (CR 400 West/150 North) and #276 (Mariah Hill Road); and $20,000 for Highway Department reimbursement.
Highway Superintendent Steven L. Berg reported bridge-crew inventory changes and site protocols: he requested removal of an XR-7 paint sprayer and a 2017 DeWalt hammer drill kit from inventory, saying the "paint sprayer is unrepairable, and the drill was lost off the truck." Commissioners moved, seconded and carried a motion to remove the paint sprayer from inventory unanimously.
Wendholt said Bridge #254 on St. Anthony Road West has the deck complete; forms will be removed later in the week to allow curing and the goal is to have the bridge open next week while the bridge crew corrects guardrail issues countywide.
The appropriation request was described as scheduled to be made; the minutes do not record a formal vote on the $91,000 request at this meeting.
