Chief Deputy Prosecutor Evan Biesterveld, representing Prosecutor Beth Schroeder, asked the board on July 1 to allow the Prosecutor’s Office to use an annex basement office and to give the office first priority for a shared meeting space. The commissioners approved the request 2-0, noting that technicians and maintenance staff may need access and that a calendar remains in place to reserve shared space.
Why it matters: The change centralizes prosecutor staff and investigator workspace and clarifies scheduling priority for the meeting room. The action removes the need for an additional formal reservation process at the commission level and assigns use management to departmental calendars.
Separately, Kate Schwenk of Heart of Jasper requested use of courthouse basement restrooms for the Heartland Half Marathon (Sept. 20–21, 2024) and Mingle on Main (Oct. 4, 2024). Commissioners approved the requested dates 2-0.
No fiscal appropriations were associated with these approvals at the meeting.
