Highway officials told the Dubois County Board of Commissioners on July 1 that chip‑seal and overlay work is progressing and running below initial cost estimates, with the project reported 33% complete and numerous overlays already finished.
Why it matters: The county provided a detailed schedule for chip sealing, paving and patching through early August and noted that the Pine Ridge dumpster site paving had been completed. Those roadwork schedules affect local traffic, maintenance budgets and contractor scheduling.
Highway Engineer Brent Wendholt also noted an existing 2002 ordinance that restricts truck traffic over 10,000 pounds on certain county roads; he reported the current signs are outdated, new signs have been ordered, and they will be installed upon delivery. Wendholt reported work on Bridge #254 (St. Anthony Road West) is advancing with piles driven and beam preparation underway.
No additional funding approvals were recorded at the meeting; roadwork progress was reported and scheduling confirmed with contractors CalCar Paving and C&R Construction.
