Dubois County approves 911 call‑routing MOU, switches rollover to Jasper Police

Dubois County commissioners on July 1 approved a Memorandum of Understanding to establish geographic 911 call routing, rollover and emergency backup operations among the Dubois County Communications Center, the City of Jasper Police Department, the Dubois County Communications 911 Advisory Board, INDigital, the Statewide 911 Board, and WTH GIS Thinkmap, 911 Director Stuart Wilson said.
Why it matters: The MOU aims to improve 911 call response and routing by using geographic information systems for call handling and by changing the current rollover routing arrangement from Pike County to the Jasper City Police Department. Wilson told the board the 911 Advisory Board continues to seek ways to increase call response times.
The board approved the MOU 2-0. Wilson will obtain the City and State signatures and return a finalized copy to the Auditor’s office. No fiscal impact or implementation timetable was specified at the meeting.
