The Houghton County Board of Commissioners on March 12 adopted Resolution 24-05 authorizing the sale of Outlot A at the Houghton County Airpark to Signature Research, Inc. for $20,000.
The board voted 5-0 to approve a purchase agreement for the tract after the Airport Committee recommended the sale. Commissioner Glenn Anderson moved to approve the purchase agreement and Commissioner Roy Britz seconded; the vote recorded Yes: Anderson, Britz, Tikkanen, Keranen, Janssen (5), No: 0.
Resolution 24-05, as read into the record, affirms the county’s succession to the former Airport Authority’s powers and cites the Airpark Plat covenants governing resale rights. The resolution authorizes Chairman Tom Tikkanen to sign all closing documents and directs certification by County Clerk Jennifer Kelly.
County Administrator Benjamin Larson and commissioners discussed the transaction as routine following Airport Committee review; the minutes show no amendments to the purchase price or sale conditions. The board certified the resolution in the meeting minutes and the county clerk’s certification appears in the official resolution text.
The sale follows standard county procedures for airport property disposition and will proceed under the conditions in the approved purchase agreement and the Airpark Plat covenants.
